The dictionary states that a compliment is an expression of praise, commendation, or admiration: A sincere compliment boosts one's morale. -Dictionary.com

A compliment puts the recipient in a good mood, but it also points out that the giver of the compliment is in a good place emotionally, seeking the best in people around them.

If you want to boost your mood and the mood of those around you, begin to find genuinely good things about the people in your life and point them out.
